Our Mission
At ECHO, our mission is to build healthier, more resilient communities by equipping individuals with the knowledge, confidence, and tools to be confident bystanders in cardiac arrest. We believe that lifesaving education should be accessible to everyone—regardless of background, training, or location—and that empowering local leaders is the key to long-term impact.
ECHO is powered by pre-health students, EMTs, and CPR instructors who are passionate about using their skills to serve beyond the classroom. Through peer-led CPR instruction, cardiac arrest awareness, and hands-on emergency response training, we are creating a ripple effect of preparedness that reaches deep into neighborhoods, schools, and community centers.
We envision a future where every person knows what to do in a cardiac emergency—and acts. By combining grassroots outreach with research, advocacy, and student leadership, we aim to improve survival outcomes, strengthen community bonds, and redefine what it means to be a healthcare leader.
We’re not just teaching CPR—we’re creating a culture of action.
ECHO began with a simple but powerful idea: what if pre-health students could do more than just prepare for their futures—what if they could save lives right now?
It started with a small group of student EMTs and CPR instructors who wanted to use their training to serve their local communities. As they began offering classes and workshops, they saw firsthand how impactful these sessions were—not just in skill-building, but in sparking confidence, connection, and a sense of shared responsibility.
As interest grew, so did the realization: if we could train more student instructors, we could exponentially expand our reach. What began as a few one-off trainings quickly evolved into a growing network of student-led trainers, all passionate about making CPR education more available, approachable, and effective.
This grassroots effort became a movement. And from that movement, ECHO was born—a student-led initiative dedicated to using health education as a vehicle for empowerment and change. Today, we continue to grow our network, train new leaders, and partner with communities to create a world where life-saving knowledge is never out of reach.
